Tait Steps Down from Bangladesh Role Following Mutual Agreement with BCB
Sean Tait’s journey with the Bangladesh national cricket team has come to an end earlier than expected. The former Australian fast bowler has stepped down from his role as the national team’s bowling coach due to family reasons. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the development through an official statement on Thursday.
Tait joined Bangladesh as the national team’s pace bowling coach in May 2025. According to the BCB, Bangladesh’s pace attack became more organized and effective during his tenure. His contribution was particularly significant in improving the performances of the fast bowlers across different formats. He was also part of the coaching staff during several notable achievements by the national team in recent times.
Explaining his decision to step down, Tait reflected on his time with Bangladesh and described the experience as a privilege. Speaking about working with the players and support staff, he said, “It has been a great honour to work with the Bangladesh national team and to be part of a group of talented and dedicated players and support staff. This was not an easy decision to make. I am sincerely grateful for the support and understanding shown by the BCB throughout our discussions.”
The former Australian pacer also expressed satisfaction with the progress made by Bangladesh’s fast bowlers and voiced optimism about their future. He said, “I am proud of the progress the pace bowlers have made. I believe they have a very bright future ahead of them. I wish the team every success in its journey going forward.”
Meanwhile, the BCB thanked Tait for his valuable contribution to Bangladesh cricket and wished him all the best in his future responsibilities and professional career.
With Tait’s departure, the position of national team bowling coach is now vacant. Although the process of appointing a new coach is expected to become a priority, former Bangladesh pacer Talha Jubair has been assigned to take charge of the role for the upcoming series against Australia.
