Taijul Islam does not see much problem in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan in the Test squad. In a press conference, Taijul shared his thoughts on the reality of the situation. He urged everyone to pray for the arrival of another player like Shakib in Bangladesh cricket.
On the first day of the Test against South Africa, Taijul reached a significant milestone by becoming the second Bangladeshi after Shakib to take 200 Test wickets. While Shakib achieved this feat in his 54th Test, Taijul reached it in just 48 matches.
When asked about the challenges of playing without Shakib, Taijul said, "The first question is about your brother Shakib not being here. It's true he is not here, but I have played many matches without him. We won a Test in New Zealand without Shakib. There are many such examples. You can't expect one player to play for 50 years."
Taijul does not see the absence of Shakib as a major issue, but he emphasized the importance of hoping for the emergence of another player like him in Bangladesh cricket.
He stated, "A player will come and a player will go. We have to accept that over 10, 15, or at most 20 years. There’s no doubt that he was a great player. But we should pray that another player like him comes, and those who are currently playing should also perform well."
