Taijul Islam has emerged as the backbone of the Bangladesh cricket team in the ongoing Test against South Africa. After claiming two wickets the previous day, he continued his impressive performance by taking another three wickets in the morning session, bringing the score from 386 to 391/5. Remarkably, Taijul captured all five wickets lost by South Africa.

Today marked a much-needed relief for Bangladesh, as they managed to dominate the first session. Over the course of 29 overs, South Africa scored 106 runs while losing three wickets. Taijul's brilliance was evident throughout the session, and by lunch, South Africa had reached 413 runs for five wickets.

After a solid first day where South Africa ended at 307 for two, the visitors aimed to accelerate their scoring. However, they encountered severe difficulties against Taijul's spin, which left their middle order in disarray. In just three overs, Taijul dismissed David Bedingham, Tony de Zorzi, and Kyle Verreynne.

Taijul started his wicket-taking spree by bowling out David Bedingham, who returned to the pavilion with a disappointing score of 59 after being dismissed immediately following a six. De Zorzi, who had celebrated his maiden Test century the previous day, was looking for a big score but fell into Tajul’s leg-before trap at 177 runs, despite an unsuccessful review.

Kyle Verreynne, who had been instrumental in South Africa's victory in the last Test, was left stranded on a duck, thanks to Taijul's exceptional bowling, allowing him to complete his five-wicket haul—his 14th in Test cricket.

Following Taijul's outstanding performance, Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder showed some resistance, with Rickelton unbeaten on 11 and Mulder contributing 12 runs.
