Sri Lankan Test Captain Dhananjaya de Silva has moved up in the career-best rankings after the Sylhet Test. Sri Lanka's new Test captain, who secured a first-innings lead in the first Test against Bangladesh, has advanced closer to the top 10 batters in the world. He has climbed 15 spots to the 14th position.
Dhananjaya's significant leap in the ICC's latest Test batter rankings has brought him great satisfaction. With 695 rating points, he now holds the top spot in his Test career. To claim the top ten positions, he only needs 40 more rating points.
Recognized as the Player of the Match for his heroic performance in the first Test against Bangladesh, Dhananjaya has been rewarded for his valor. Now, he has earned a place at the top of the ICC rankings. His team clinched a remarkable victory in the Sylhet Test by a massive margin of 328 runs.
Dhananjaya played an innings of 102 runs in the first innings and followed it up with a knock of 108 runs in the second innings.
On the contrary, experienced Bangladeshi batsman Mominul Haque scored an unbeaten 87 runs in the second innings at Sylhet. As a result of his lone battle, he has climbed eight steps up the ladder in the Test batter rankings, now occupying the 50th position.
