Bangladesh have received a boost in the international T20 arena following the New Zealand series, moving up one spot in the latest rankings. In the updated list, the Tigers have climbed to eighth position, reflecting their recent performances.
According to the ICC’s latest rankings published on Tuesday, Bangladesh now have a rating of 225 points. This progress comes after they drew the three-match T20I series 1-1 against New Zealand. With this rise, they have strengthened their position within the top ten.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have slipped down the table. Losing six rating points, they have dropped to ninth place. Afghanistan sit just behind them with 220 points.
India continue to hold the top spot with 275 points. England and Australia occupy the second and third positions respectively. New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and the West Indies have all retained their previous rankings, with no changes among the top seven teams.
The ICC rankings are calculated with greater emphasis on performances over the past year, while matches from the previous two years are given a 50 percent weighting. As a result, teams that perform consistently well in recent times are seeing rapid improvement in the rankings.
