Sri Lanka Announces Strong Squad for ODI Series Against West Indies
Uncapped fast-bowling allrounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe is in line for his ODI debut after being included in place of Chamika Karunaratne in Sri Lanka's 16-man squad to face West Indies, while legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay has been brought in for offspinner Akila Dananjaya.
Allrounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe, uncapped in ODIs, has received his maiden one-day call-up to the Sri Lanka squad for the series against West Indies. Dilshan Madushanka also returns to the ODI setup having missed the 50-over games against India in August due to a hamstring injury. Mohamed Shiraz, who made his debut in the same series, retains his place.
Wanindu Hasaranga, having missed the last two ODIs against India due to a hamstring injury, is also back in Sri Lanka's 50-over setup while all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne and spinner Akila Dananjaya have been left out
Matheesha Pathirana continues to miss out having sustained a shoulder injury prior to the India ODIs, while Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara are also not part of the 16-member squad for the West Indies ODIs.
Nishan Madushka, who got his maiden ODI call-up in the India series but didn't get a game, has been included in the squad as well
Sri Lanka, who won the T20I series 2-1 against West Indies, will play three ODIs against the Caribbean side. The first ODI is on October 20 while the second and third matches will be played on October 23 and 26 respectively, with Pallekele hosting all three matches.
