Sabbir Rahman has frequently made headlines for disciplinary issues in the past, and this BPL season has been no exception. Recently, his coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon revealed to the media that Sabbir had been absent from practice sessions, which is why he was not included in the playing XI for two matches. Coach Sujon’s comments sparked a lot of attention, and now Sabbir has responded to them himself.

In a post-match press conference, Sabbir addressed the question about his absence from practice. He explained, "I had a conversation with the coach. I informed him that I had a family issue. Maybe he didn’t understand that fully. I think it’s better that internal matters stay within the team and aren’t shared with the media."

This isn’t the first time Sabbir has faced criticism for discipline-related issues, which is why he has often been labeled as cricket’s "bad boy." However, Sabbir believes he is trying to improve and that the people around him are not allowing him to do so. He added, "I’ve been handling everything since I was young. I know how to manage myself. I spoke to the coach about the family issue. Maybe he didn’t understand. Internal matters should not be discussed in the press. Since it's me, Sabbir Rahman, every time something happens, people talk about my discipline. I’m trying to improve. Maybe some people around me are not letting me be better, pushing me in the wrong direction. But I’m not really worried about that. My job is to play and perform, and that’s what I’m focusing on."

After a dry spell, Sabbir found form with the bat in his recent match against Chittagong Kings, where he scored 82 runs off 33 balls. He shared that this innings gave him a huge confidence boost, saying, "Personally, I feel very good. I feel a lot of confidence."

When asked about his dream of returning to the national team, Sabbir responded, "Everyone has dreams. You can call me young, or you can call me senior, I am both. My fitness is still intact. If I can play a few good innings, and if the selectors give me a chance, I will definitely try to perform well."

Sabbir also shared that he regularly practices at his own expense in Rajshahi, saying, "I practice regularly. I’m trying to make a comeback. I’ve got the opportunity in the BPL… Alhamdulillah. I will try to perform well."

Sabbir Rahman’s comments reflect his desire to turn things around and regain his place in the national team, and he is working hard on his fitness and performance to make that happen.
