Sohan Promises to Give His Best If He Gets the Opportunity to Play for Bangladesh
Yesterday, despite scoring a century against Mohammedan at the Mirpur Home of Cricket, Dhanmondi’s captain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, couldn’t lead his team to victory. Sohan has been in remarkable form in the middle order ever since the last BPL, and his excellent performances have continued in the ongoing DPL (Dhaka Premier League). Sohan, who has been performing consistently, is eager to make a return to the national team and is waiting for a call-up to the squad.
In this year’s DPL, Sohan is in exceptional form. Playing for Dhanmondi Sports Club, he has scored 386 runs in 7 matches so far, ranking second in the list of highest run-scorers, alongside Enamul Haque Bijoy. In his last three matches, Sohan scored two centuries and a fifty. His strike rate is nearly 100, and his batting average stands at an impressive 77.20. This stellar performance has sparked discussions about his potential return to the national team.
Sohan spoke about his desire to return to the national team, mentioning that playing for the national side is a matter of pride for him. "I always strive to give my best. If given the opportunity, I will certainly give my best," he said. Reflecting on his past performances, Sohan added, "I did well in ODIs. The way I ended my last stint with the national team, I believe I can start from there again if the opportunity comes, and that will be my focus."
Sohan made his last international appearance for Bangladesh in December 2023, and since then, he has been eager to return. During his seven-match ODI career, Sohan has scored 165 runs at a strike rate of 94.82. However, he only got the chance to bat five times.
As the captain of Dhanmondi Sports Club, Sohan has not only led his team but also kept wickets. He has been named the Man of the Match in two of Dhanmondi’s three victories in the tournament. Even though Dhanmondi lost to Mohammedan, Sohan was still awarded the Player of the Match title for his performance.
