Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed the departure of New Zealand’s Andre Adams as the national team’s pace bowling coach. In his place, former Australian speedster and World Cup winner Shaun Tait is set to take over the role, pending final formalities.
Although Adams was initially contracted until February 2026, sources from BCB’s cricket operations have revealed that the board was not satisfied with his performance, prompting an early termination of his tenure.
Shaun Tait, who recently served as the head coach of Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), has now been selected as the new pace bowling coach. Before finalizing Tait, BCB had also held discussions with former coach Allan Donald and Pakistan’s Umar Gul.
This isn’t Tait’s first interaction with BCB regarding a coaching role. He was approached previously during the last BPL season with an offer to join as Bangladesh's pace coach.
Since his retirement from international cricket, Tait has committed fully to coaching. He previously served as Pakistan’s national bowling coach for a year and has been involved with several T20 leagues, including the PSL and BPL.
The pace bowling coach position in Bangladesh became vacant after Allan Donald’s exit post the ODI World Cup. Adams was brought in ahead of the Sri Lanka series but now exits prematurely, making way for Tait’s expected arrival.
BCB is likely to make an official announcement soon, and Tait is expected to take over responsibilities ahead of Bangladesh’s upcoming assignments.
