Bangladesh's cricket team has once again disappointed fans with their performance in the Test series against Sri Lanka. While there was some relief from the pacers' performance, the team, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto and his teammates, showcased failure throughout.
There are plenty of discussions regarding Bangladesh's performance. Fielding, in particular, has been a major concern. The Tigers seemed to struggle with dropped catches throughout the series.
When asked about the series, Shanto commented, "Regarding fielding, I would say everyone practiced enough, but unfortunately, we couldn't convert those preparations into catches. Throughout the series, we couldn't perform well in batting either."
Addressing the issue further, Shanto emphasized the need for improvement in first-class cricket. He expressed, "If we can improve the wickets in first-class cricket and face challenges more effectively, then it would be good for us. In my opinion, the quality of matches in first-class cricket is not up to the mark, which affects our performance. If our players get more opportunities to play matches, especially against international teams, it will definitely be beneficial. More matches mean more opportunities for improvement."
Shanto also expressed optimism about the pace bowlers' performance, highlighting the significant change in their performance over the years. He mentioned, "Previously, it was not like this. Now, in Test matches, we see such wickets being taken. Hasan in the first match, Shariful in the previous match, and Taskin previously; Khaled has performed exceptionally well in both matches. Every bowler is now willing to play in any condition and has the eagerness to contribute positively to the team, which is a good sign."
Shanto's remarks reflect the team's acknowledgment of the areas needing improvement and their determination to enhance their performance in future matches.
