Shan Masood opens up ahead of Bangladesh Test series
The Bangladesh-Pakistan Test series, which is part of the ICC Test Championship, will begin on August 21 in Pakistan. The Bangladesh cricket team has arrived in Pakistan ahead of the series to prepare. Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Shan Masood has shared the team's plans against Bangladesh before the series starts.
In a press conference on Sunday, Shan Masood discussed how Pakistan plans to play against Bangladesh, saying, "Attacking cricket is often discussed. However, what matters is what we need now. We need a win in the Test Championship. We have to play the kind of cricket that will lead us to victory, whether it is attacking or sometimes defensive. Momentum in Test cricket changes, and we have to adapt accordingly."
Shan Masood emphasized that the team will aim to win the series against Bangladesh with the same mentality they had in the Sri Lanka series. He said, "We will try to bring a positive result for our country. Our team is preparing in the best possible way for the Bangladesh series."
Despite Bangladesh being somewhat behind Pakistan in Test format experience, Pakistan is not underestimating their opponents due to the presence of experienced players in the Bangladesh squad. Masood noted, "Bangladesh has many players who have played around the world for a long time. They are an experienced team. Generally, experienced teams are there. We will try to prepare a pitch that suits our style."
Pakistan aims to reach the final of the Test Championship, making the series win against Bangladesh especially important. The captain stated, "To compete in the Test Championship, we need to win matches. We need victories in batting, bowling, and fielding. We must show a positive intent."
The first Test will be held in Rawalpindi on August 21, and the second and final Test will take place in Karachi on August 30.
