Shakib included in Bangladesh squad for the first Test against South Africa
Bangladesh has announced its squad for the first Test of the series against South Africa, set to be played at home. Shakib Al Hasan, who will play his farewell Test, is naturally included in the 15-member squad. However, pacer Shoriful Islam, who was injured during the Pakistan tour, has been left out of the Dhaka Test squad.
The first Test against South Africa will begin on October 21 in Mirpur. The squad will begin training from Friday. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the team today through an official statement.
Like the India series, Shoriful Islam has not been included in the squad for the South Africa series either. Another exclusion is pacer Khaled Ahmed, who was part of the squad for the India tour. This has reduced the squad from 16 members to 15 for this Test series.
The two-match Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa will commence on October 21. The first Test will take place from October 21-25 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, while the second Test will be held from October 29 to November 2 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
Bangladesh squad for the first Test:
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das (Wicketkeeper), Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Nahid Rana.
