Shakib Al Hasan Completes Five-Wicket Haul in County Championship
Shakib Al Hasan, who took four wickets the previous day, completed a remarkable five-wicket haul today. Over the course of two innings for Surrey, Shakib claimed a total of nine wickets. This marks Shakib's 35th five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
In his County Championship debut for Surrey, Shakib showcased his exceptional bowling skills. In the first innings, he bowled 33.5 overs, conceding 97 runs while taking four wickets. In the second innings, he delivered 29.3 overs, again conceding 97 runs, but this time capturing five wickets. As a result, Shakib claimed a total of nine wickets in the match. Somerset was dismissed in both innings by the spin of Shakib.
Shakib's fifth wicket came when he bowled out Tom Banton for 46 runs. He had already secured four wickets on the previous day. With Somerset just one wicket away from being all out, Shakib needed only one more wicket to complete his five-for, and he delivered on this perfectly.
In the second innings, Shakib dismissed Somerset's openers Archie Von and Tom Abel, as well as captain Lewis Gregory and James Rew. Today, he added Tom Banton to his list of dismissals, achieving the milestone of a five-wicket haul. Somerset was eventually bowled out for 224 runs in their second innings. Surrey now requires 221 runs to secure victory.
