The South Africa women’s cricket team has announced its squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against England, where the two teams will face off in three ODIs and three T20 matches. Seshnie Naidu will miss this series due to her school exams.
The T20 matches are scheduled for November 24, 27, and 30, while the ODIs will take place on December 4, 8, and 11. The tour also includes a single Test match in Bloemfontein from December 15 to 18, for which Cricket South Africa will announce the squad later.
All-rounders Marizanne Kapp and Ayabonga Khaka will be rested for the T20 series against England, with pacer Eliz-Mari Marks and all-rounder Nondumiso Shangase joining the squad in their place. Kapp and Khaka will return for the three-match ODI series.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mieke de Ridder, part of South Africa’s T20 World Cup squad, will also miss this series, replaced by Faye Tunnicliffe. Although Naidu will miss the England series due to exams, she will prepare for the U-19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia in January after her exams.
South Africa’s interim coach, Dillon du Preez, will continue leading the team, aiming to maintain the strength displayed in their T20 World Cup campaign. He said:
“We want to continue the momentum we built in the last T20 World Cup. Even though the next T20 World Cup is two years away, we are focused on growing as a team. That’s why we’ve decided to give one or two players a chance to prove themselves in this T20 series.”
