Sanath Jayasuriya named as interim head coach of Sri Lanka
Former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the interim head coach for Sri Lanka's upcoming home series against India and the tour of England. This decision follows the resignation of Chris Silverwood, who stepped down from his role as head coach after Sri Lanka's disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup.
According to reports from The Sunday Times, Jayasuriya will take on the interim head coach responsibilities for the home series against India and the England tour.
Following the T20 World Cup debacle, Chris Silverwood resigned, taking responsibility for the team's failures. In light of this, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed Jayasuriya as the interim head coach for the upcoming series and tour.
Jayasuriya was an advisor to the Sri Lankan team during the T20 World Cup last month and had previously accompanied the team to Bangladesh as a consultant in March.
This move aims to bring stability and experience to the Sri Lankan team as they prepare for important fixtures against India and England under the guidance of their legendary former captain.
