On the second day of the Sydney Test, a total of 15 wickets fell between the two teams. After Australia was bowled out for 181 in their second innings, India ended the day at 141 for 6, still holding a 145-run lead over the Australians.
After a poor batting performance in their first innings, India's bowlers took charge, dismissing the Australian batters and making a strong comeback in the match. However, India's concerns grew as Jasprit Bumrah had to leave the field due to injury. He bowled just one over after lunch before heading directly to the hospital for a scan.
Australia resumed the second day with 1 wicket for 9 runs and quickly lost wickets. The highest score for the Aussies came from debutant Bau Webster, who made 57. Steve Smith scored 33, Sam Constance 23, Alex Carey 21, and Pat Cummins 10, while the rest of the batters fell for single-digit scores. Australia was bowled out for just 181 runs in their first innings.
Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took 3 wickets each for India, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Jasprit Bumrah claimed 2 wickets each.
Starting their second innings with a 4-run lead, India soon found themselves under pressure, losing 4 wickets for just 78 runs under the bowling attack of Scott Boland. Virat Kohli was dismissed for just 6 runs, while Shubman Gill and KL Rahul both scored 13 runs.
Then, Rishabh Pant took charge with a counterattack against the Aussies. Playing a T20-style knock, he scored 61 runs off just 33 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes. Ravindra Jadeja (8*) and Washington Sundar (6*) remain unbeaten at the crease.
Scott Boland was the standout bowler for Australia, claiming 4 wickets, while Pat Cummins and Bau Webster took one wicket each.
