Rangpur Crowned Champions After Thrilling NCL T20 Final Victory
Rangpur overcame early doubts about their playoff chances to deliver a spectacular comeback, eventually claiming the NCL T20 title for the second time. In a dominating display at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, they defeated Khulna by 8 wickets in the final.
Chasing a modest target of 137, Rangpur secured victory with 18 balls to spare. Openers Zahid Javed and Nasir Hossain set the tone with a blistering partnership of 66 runs. Zahid scored 27 off 24 balls, while Nasir made 46 off 31 deliveries. The chase was comfortably completed with contributions from Naeem Islam (40 off 32) and captain Akbar Ali (19 off 15). Khulna’s only success came from Sheikh Parvez Jibon, who took 1 wicket for 12 runs.
Earlier, Khulna struggled after losing the toss and being sent in to bat. They were in trouble at 69 for 5, but captain Mohammad Mithun (44 off 32) and Mrityunjay Chowdhury (24 off 13) steadied the innings. Their team eventually posted 136 for 8. For Rangpur, Abdullah Al Mamun was the standout bowler, claiming 2 wickets for 15 runs.
Despite initial doubts about their playoff journey, Rangpur’s resilience and team spirit propelled them to the trophy — a testament to one team, one belief, and an unstoppable winning streak.
