Rajshahi Warriors Clinch Last-Minute Victory, Chattograms Low-Scoring Effort Falls Short
In the 28th match of the Bangladesh Premier League, Rajshahi Warriors defeated Chattogram Royals by 3 wickets. The low-scoring contest at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end.
Batting first, Chattogram were bowled out for 125 runs in 19.5 overs. The top-order batsmen failed to build any significant partnerships early on. Mohammad Haris scored 16 before being dismissed, Naeem returned for a duck, and Mahmudul Hasan Joy contributed 19 runs, slightly boosting the team’s total. The standout performer was Asif Ali, who scored 39 runs off 24 balls. The middle-order tried to resist effectively, but no major partnership was formed.
Among the Rajshahi Warriors’ bowlers, Tanzim Hasan Sakib was the most effective, taking 4 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. Additionally, Jahannad Khan claimed 2 wickets to help secure the team’s victory. The bowlers’ disciplined line and length, aggressive fielding, and timely wickets disrupted Chattogram’s innings.
Chasing a modest target, Rajshahi did not have an easy ride either. Losing three wickets early, the team came under some pressure. However, the middle-order batsmen played responsibly. Akbar Ali remained unbeaten on 48 off 39 balls, guiding the chase, while Mushfiqur Rahim stayed unbeaten on 46 off 41 balls. This crucial partnership ensured that Rajshahi reached the target, finishing at 126/7 in 19.3 overs to clinch a 3-wicket victory.
With this win, Rajshahi Warriors earned two vital points, taking their total to 16 and topping the points table. Meanwhile, Chattogram Royals remain in second place.
