Play Suspended Early Due to Poor Light; Bangladesh in Strong Position

Play was called off almost two hours early due to poor light caused by cloudy skies and rain, just one over after the tea break. The fading light ended the excitement of Bangladesh’s opening pair. However, Bangladesh remains in a strong position and will resume their chase with 143 runs needed to win.

In Rawalpindi, with Bangladesh at 42 runs without loss after 7 overs in the second innings, the umpires halted play due to insufficient light. The light issues suddenly interrupted the excitement of Bangladesh’s openers, with approximately 46 overs still remaining in the day's play. No further play occurred that day due to the poor light conditions.

To win the match, Bangladesh needs another 143 runs, with one full day and all 10 wickets still in hand. The opening partnership of Zakir Hasan and Sadman Islam is offering a promising start for Bangladesh. Zakir Hasan continued to bat aggressively, remaining unbeaten on 31 off 23 balls, while Sadman Islam scored 9 runs.

Earlier, the fiery pace of Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana dismantled Pakistan’s second innings, which ended at just 172 runs. The pace bowlers have put Bangladesh on the brink of their first-ever Test series win against Pakistan. Apart from Rizwan and Salman, no other Pakistani batsman was able to effectively challenge the Bangladeshi bowlers. All 10 of Pakistan's wickets in the second innings fell to the pace attack.

Hasan completed his five-wicket haul, while Nahid Rana took 4 wickets. The remaining wicket was also claimed by a pacer, with Taskin Ahmed taking it at the start of the morning session. Bangladesh is very close to making history with their first-ever Test series win against Pakistan under the leadership of Nazmul Hossain Shanto.
