Pakistan’s Umar Gul set for Bangladesh bowling coach
Former Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul is poised to take over as the bowling coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. The 42-year-old is expected to begin his new role during the five-match T20I series against Pakistan in May.
In an interview with Telecom Asia Sports, Gul confirmed that he had received an offer from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), although the terms of the contract are yet to be finalized.
The BCB has reportedly offered Gul a 30-month contract, which would see him remain in charge of Bangladesh’s bowling unit until the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup.
Gul brings prior coaching experience to the role, having previously worked as a bowling coach for both Afghanistan and Pakistan national teams. He also served in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as the bowling coach for Quetta Gladiators.
His appointment is part of Bangladesh’s broader strategy to strengthen their coaching setup ahead of a busy international calendar and the upcoming World Cups.
