Pakistan's Collapse in Rawalpindi 2nd Test
In Rawalpindi, Mehedi Hasan Miraz dazzled with his spin. Pakistan's first innings was wrapped up quickly, with Miraz claiming four wickets. Along with Taskin Ahmed's pace attack, Miraz's spinning prowess led to Pakistan's downfall in the second Test. Under the combined efforts of spinners and pacers, Pakistan lost five wickets before lunch. By the end of the day’s play, Pakistan was all out for 274 runs.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh. Among Bangladesh's spin options, Miraz, alongside Shakib Al Hasan, is a major force. Miraz shone brightly, taking five wickets for just 22.1 overs.
Miraz's performance was stellar throughout the day. He took one wicket in the morning session and then claimed four more in the second session. Bangladesh maintained their control in the final session of the day, with Miraz finishing off Pakistan's innings. The day's play in Rawalpindi was marked by Bangladesh's dominance with their bowlers.
The aggression of Taskin Ahmed was evident from the very first ball of the innings, as he bowled out Pakistani opener Abdullah Shafique. Bangladesh continued to exert pressure on the batters and secured four more wickets in the subsequent sessions. After tea, Pakistan, with five wickets down and 183 runs, approached their batting with caution.
In the 10th over of the session, Bangladesh got their breakthrough with Naheed Rana dismissing Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan, struggling to handle extra bounce, edged the ball to Najmul Hossain Shanto at first slip, providing Bangladesh with some relief.
Quick dismissals followed for Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Ali, both falling to Miraz. At 246 runs with eight wickets down, Pakistan was still looking to Salman Agha. Among the recognized batters, Agha was the only one fighting hard at the crease. In the 85th over, Agha hit Taskin for a six to reach his seventh Test fifty.
Taskin eventually dismissed Agha to finish the innings. Miraz then wrapped up Pakistan's innings, taking his fifth wicket and securing Bangladesh’s comprehensive day in Rawalpindi.
