Pakistan and Bangladesh have been knocked out

Had Bangladesh managed to defeat New Zealand today, there would have been plenty of calculations and possibilities left in the tournament. Instead, in the most crucial match, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim's dismal batting display sealed Bangladesh's fate in the Champions Trophy. With a 5-wicket loss to New Zealand, they were eliminated from the competition, while Mitchell Santner's team reached the semifinals.

After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh's batters failed to show any fight. They surrendered helplessly to New Zealand's bowlers. Mushfiqur, Riyad, and others failed to counter the Kiwi attack and handed away wickets carelessly. However, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Ali stood out for their responsible batting. At the start, Shanto, and towards the end, Zakir, led Bangladesh to a competitive total.

In their comeback attempt, Bangladesh managed only 236 runs after losing 9 wickets. Michael Bracewell was the star for New Zealand, destroying Bangladesh's batting. In just 10 overs, he conceded only 26 runs and took 4 wickets, marking his best-ever bowling figures in ODIs.

New Zealand, chasing a modest target, found themselves in trouble early on. In Taskin Ahmed's first over, opener Will Young, who was on zero, was bowled out. Nahid Rana, in his second over, dismissed Kane Williamson, who had come in at number three, after scoring only 5 runs off 4 balls.

At 15 for 2, New Zealand’s chase was under pressure, but Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra steadied the ship. They added 57 runs together, and although Conway was dismissed by Mustafizur, Bangladesh couldn’t make a comeback. Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra ensured New Zealand's victory with their solid partnership. Both players scored fifties, and their partnership easily crossed the 100-run mark.

Rachin reached his century in 95 balls, with 11 fours and 1 six, before getting out for 112 runs. The 129-run partnership between Latham and Ravindra was broken by Rishad, and Latham was dismissed for 55 runs. Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell then guided New Zealand to a 5-wicket win, with 23 balls remaining.
