Riding on a brilliant 132-run innings from Nurul Hasan Sohan, Dhanmondi Sports Club secured a commanding 97-run victory over Shinepukur Cricket Club. Batting first, Dhanmondi posted a total of 277 runs. In response, Shinepukur collapsed to just 180 runs, falling prey to Sanjamul Islam’s devastating bowling.
On Sunday, in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), Dhanmondi captain Nurul Hasan Sohan won the toss and opted to bat first. However, his team was under pressure early on, losing four wickets for just 76 runs. At that point, Sohan stood firm like a shield for his team. While Habibur Rahman contributed 45 runs and Sanjamul Islam added 40, it was Sohan who stole the show with a magnificent century.
Sohan remained unbeaten on 132 off 131 balls, hitting 13 fours and 4 sixes in a stellar display. Dhanmondi finished their innings at 277 for 9 in the allotted overs. For Shinepukur, Ryan Rafsan Rahman picked up three wickets, while Rafiuzzaman Rafi and Ali Mohammad Walid claimed two wickets each.
Chasing a target of 278, Shinepukur struggled from the outset, losing wickets at regular intervals. Their batters failed to put up significant resistance against the bowling attack of Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Sanjamul Islam.
Although Rahim Ahmed (42) and Minhajul Abedin Sabbir (35) tried to put up some fight, their efforts only managed to reduce the margin of defeat. Shinepukur was eventually bowled out for 180 runs in 45.3 overs.
For Dhanmondi, Sanjamul Islam was the star with the ball, claiming four wickets, while Kamrul Islam Rabbi took three to seal a convincing victory.
