New Zealand secured a commanding victory in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup to book their place in the final. The Kiwis brushed aside South Africa with a comprehensive nine-wicket win.

Batting first, South Africa made a slow start. They scored 48 runs for the loss of two wickets in the powerplay. Although they reached fifty in 6.4 overs and brought up their hundred in 13.5 overs, they failed to build substantial partnerships during the middle overs. Tristan Stubbs (18 off 20) and Marco Jansen (28 off 20) put together a 50-run stand off 40 balls to provide some stability.

Jansen later accelerated the innings. His explosive 52 off 27 balls, featuring five sixes, took South Africa past 150 in the 18th over. However, regular wickets prevented a strong finish, and the Proteas ended on 169/8 from their 20 overs.

In reply, New Zealand’s openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen launched a blistering assault from the very beginning. They raced to fifty in just 4.1 overs. The powerplay yielded 84 runs without loss, completely shifting the momentum of the match.

The opening partnership reached 100 in just 47 balls. Seifert scored 53 off 28 deliveries, while Allen played an even more destructive innings. After bringing up his half-century off just 19 balls, he completed his century in only 33 deliveries. His knock included 10 fours and 8 sixes — one of the most devastating batting displays in a T20 World Cup knockout match.

New Zealand crossed 150 in 12.1 overs and eventually chased down the target in just 12.5 overs, scoring 173/1 to seal victory with more than seven overs to spare.

With this emphatic win, New Zealand head into the final full of confidence. Despite posting a fighting total, South Africa were overwhelmed by the Kiwis’ aggressive and fearless batting display.
