New Zealand Includes Jacob Duffy in Tri-Nation Series Squad Ahead of ICC Champions Trophy
Ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, New Zealand has included fast bowler Jacob Duffy in their squad for the upcoming Tri-Nation Series in Pakistan. However, the 30-year-old Duffy has not been included in the main Champions Trophy squad but has been named as a reserve player.
Duffy’s inclusion comes as a backup for Lockie Ferguson, who is currently busy playing in the ILT20 (International League T20) for the Desert Vipers. Ferguson is scheduled to play until February 10, after which he will join the New Zealand squad for the Tri-Nation Series. In the ongoing ILT20, Ferguson has been in excellent form, taking 9 wickets in 6 matches. His team, Desert Vipers, is currently at the top of the table with 14 points after 9 matches.
Jacob Duffy has been in superb form recently, particularly in the T20 series against Sri Lanka, where he took 12 wickets in 5 matches, earning the "Man of the Series" award. He is set to depart for Pakistan on Monday.
The Tri-Nation Series will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, with New Zealand playing Pakistan on February 8 and South Africa on February 10. The final match will be held on February 14. Following the series, New Zealand will play a practice match against Bangladesh on February 16 in Karachi.
