South African fast bowler Nandre Burger has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. He returned home due to an injury sustained during the ongoing ODI series against Ireland.
In a statement, Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed that the 29-year-old Burger experienced discomfort in his lower back, where a scan revealed an injury. He will undergo further examinations upon his return to South Africa.
CSA also mentioned that a replacement for Nandre Burger for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh will be announced in due course. The South African cricket team is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on October 16 for the series.
Nandre Burger made his international debut in December 2023 against India. So far, he has taken 14 wickets in three Tests, 6 wickets in five ODIs, and 1 wicket in two T20Is.
