Nahid Rana Sanctioned by ICC
Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana has been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the Code of Conduct during the first ODI against Australia.
Nahid was sanctioned for violating Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the match held in Dhaka on Tuesday. The article relates to using language, gestures, or actions after dismissing a batter that could disparage the player or provoke an aggressive reaction.
As a result of the incident, one demerit point has been added to Nahid’s disciplinary record. It was his second offence within a 24-month period, taking his total tally of demerit points to two.
The incident occurred in the 11th over of Australia’s innings. After dismissing Josh Inglis, Nahid charged aggressively towards the batter and used inappropriate language.
Nahid admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Prakash Bhatt of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As a result, there was no need for a formal hearing.
