Mushfiqur Rahim gain big in ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings
The recent performances in the Rawalpindi Test have led to notable changes in the ICC player rankings. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Rizwan have reached their career-best positions in the ICC Test batting rankings after scoring centuries last week. Liton Das has also seen an improvement in his ranking.
In the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, Mushfiqur Rahim’s match-winning 191 runs have propelled him seven places up to a career-best 17th position in the ICC Test batting rankings. He had previously reached this position in 2022 and 2023.
Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, after scoring 171, has entered the top 10 for the first time.
Mushfiqur, who scored 191 runs, was named Player of the Match. His remarkable innings has also earned him his highest position in the ICC rankings. Bangladesh won the Rawalpindi Test by a significant margin of 10 wickets.
Other players who have moved up in the Test rankings include Bangladesh's Liton Kumar Das, who has risen two places to 27th. Mehedi Hasan Miraz has moved up three places to 85th. England’s Jamie Smith has advanced 22 places to 42nd. Sri Lankan batsmen Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis have moved up four and eight places respectively, reaching 23rd and 36th positions.
In the latest ICC Test batting rankings, English batsman Harry Brook has climbed to 4th place. His innings of 56 and 32 in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Manchester have elevated him three places.
In the bowling rankings, Hasan Mahmud has moved up three places to 74th after contributing to Pakistan’s memorable Test win. Another pace bowler, Shariful Islam, has improved by nine places to 64th.
