The first Test between West Indies and Bangladesh is underway at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The visiting Bangladesh team dominated the first session on Day 1, but the second session saw the hosts stabilizing thanks to Mikyle Louis's measured batting. Bangladesh managed only a run-out in the second session as Louis led the West Indies forward.

In the opening session, the West Indies scored 50 runs in 23 overs but lost two key wickets. Taskin Ahmed dismissed West Indies captain Craig Brathwaite and No. 3 batter Casey Carty, leaving the hosts struggling at 25/2.

Mikyle Louis, opening the innings, partnered with No. 4 Kavem Hodge to rebuild the innings, providing hope for the West Indies. Their partnership carried on after lunch until Hodge was run out after scoring 25 off 63 balls. By then, Mikyle Louis had already completed his half-century.

No. 5 batter Alik Athanaze tried to play aggressively but found it difficult to make an impact against the disciplined Bangladeshi bowling attack. Meanwhile, Louis accelerated his scoring after settling in, keeping the hosts in contention.

Despite Louis’s efforts, the run-scoring in the second session was slower than the first. The West Indies managed just 66 runs in 31 overs during the session. Louis remained unbeaten on 71 off 166 balls and will resume batting in the third session alongside Athanaze, who is on 13 runs from 49 balls.
