In the Kanpur Test, Bangladesh finds itself on the back foot before the final day. After being all out for 233 runs in their first innings, they saw India respond with a rapid 285 runs, declaring their innings. As Bangladesh ended the day at 26 for 2, the match appears to be slipping away.
In a press conference on the fourth day, all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz shared his thoughts on the match's direction. He stated, "In Test cricket, anything is possible. It's not like we are completely out of it. We've won many matches from similar situations before. We still have opportunities. The wicket looks good, and while it will be challenging, I believe if we can build a good partnership and bat responsibly for a session, it will be a positive outcome for us. We still have tomorrow to play."
Miraz hinted at aiming for a draw rather than a win, saying, "Winning requires a lot of time. If we focus on batting to set a target for them, we also need to take 10 wickets. Right now, it’s more important to ensure our safety and bat as long as we can. Depending on the situation, we may look to chase a win, but first, we need to focus on our performance."
He expressed surprise at India's aggressive batting strategy, noting, "They came in with a plan. I was a bit surprised at first. After 2-3 overs, we understood they were executing their plan well. We tried to play to our strengths and break their innings."
On his performance, Miraz, who took 4 wickets while bowling in a T20 style, remarked, "Given the current situation, our priority will be our safety. We will try to bat for as long as possible, which will be beneficial for the team."
