Despite the high anticipation surrounding the 12th BPL auction, veteran cricketers Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim went unsold in the first call, sparking widespread discussion across social media.
Mushfiq reacted to the situation with a cryptic post, writing, “Alhamdulillah for everything.”
However, the scenario changed in the latter part of the auction. Considering their experience and long-term contributions, both players were retained in their original category, avoiding a drop from Category B to C.
In the end, Mahmudullah was picked up by Rangpur Riders for 3.5 million taka. Rajshahi Warriors, meanwhile, added Mushfiq to their squad after the local players’ auction. After confirming the signing, Rangpur Riders welcomed Mahmudullah on social media, writing, “Mahmudullah Riyad has joined Rangpur Riders. Welcome to the Riders family, Mr. Senior!”
