After a dominant performance in the latter part of the day, Bangladesh has seized control of the match in Rawalpindi. Following Litton Das’s century, Hasan Mahmud contributed significantly with two crucial wickets, keeping Bangladesh in the driver’s seat. As Bangladesh aims to start Day 4 on a strong note, Litton Das is hopeful that the bowlers will advance the team further in this Test. He also shared some insights on how to tackle Pakistan’s batters.
Hasan Mahmud’s impactful bowling saw him dismiss openers Abdullah Shafique and Khurram Shahzad in consecutive overs. By the end of Day 3, Pakistan’s lead was 21 runs with 8 wickets remaining. With two days of play still left, Bangladesh has turned the match around and is now in a strong position. Litton Das remains optimistic about securing a win, stating:
"Rain is something we can’t control. However, if we can start well tomorrow with good bowling, anything can happen. The pitch offers some assistance for the new ball. If we manage to get breakthroughs early, we could seize the momentum and make a strong comeback."
Litton acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying:
"It’s a bit difficult to predict, and I’m not saying we will easily dismiss them. Our responsibility is to perform well as a bowling and fielding unit. If we bowl in good areas, they will struggle. Batting on this pitch is not easy, and scoring quickly is challenging. You need to take your time and bat accordingly. If we bowl well, we can put them under pressure, as our pace and spin units are quite strong. Let’s see what happens tomorrow."
Litton Das’s historic 138-run innings provided Bangladesh with a much-needed boost. After a dismal morning session where they lost 6 wickets for just 26 runs, Bangladesh was eventually all out for 262 runs. Liton’s magnificent innings earned him a warm reception in Rawalpindi and marked his fourth career century. His partnership with Mehedi Hasan Miraz added 165 runs, and a subsequent 69-run stand with Hasan Mahmud helped Bangladesh recover and build a competitive total.
