The performance in the Test series in Pakistan has resulted in changes to the rankings of the country's cricketers. Liton Kumar Das has made a significant leap in the batsmen's rankings, moving up 12 places to now be in the top 15. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has also seen an improvement, while captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mominul Haque have fallen down the rankings.
In the latest ICC Test batting rankings, Bangladesh's wicketkeeper-batter Liton Das has moved up 12 places to the 15th position. Although this is not his career-best ranking, as he once reached the top 12, Liton earned this recognition for his outstanding contribution with the bat in Bangladesh's memorable Test series victory against Pakistan. Liton Das, who played a remarkable innings of 138 runs in the second Test, also won the Player of the Match award.
Another Bangladeshi batter who has moved up in the Test rankings is Mehidy Hasan Miraz. He has risen 10 places to the 75th position, with his current rating points at 425. This is Miraz's career-best ranking as a batter. Mushfiqur Rahim remains at his previous position (17th in the rankings).
However, there has been a drop in rankings for captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mominul Haque, who did not perform well with the bat. Shanto has fallen 3 places to 66th. Shakib has dropped 2 places to 45th, and Mominul Haque has also dropped 3 places to 49th.
At the top of the rankings, Joe Root has strengthened his position with back-to-back centuries. The gap in ratings between Root, the number one Test batsman, and Kane Williamson, who is in second place, has widened. However, there has been one change in the top five. English batter Harry Brook has dropped one place from fourth, and Australian star Steve Smith has moved into that position.
