Key Decisions from the BCB Board Meeting on BPL and Other Crucial Issues
The 15th meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Board of Directors was held today (October 30) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The meeting saw approval of several important decisions aimed at enhancing the governance and operational capabilities of the board.
The major decisions include acceptance of several directors' resignations, the vacating of certain directorships, modernizing gym facilities at three venues, unveiling the BPL schedule, and forming a Constitution Amendment Committee.
Key Outcomes from the 15th BCB Board Meeting:
Resignations of Directors Accepted
The board accepted the resignations of directors A.M. Naimur Rahman Durjoy, Khaled Mahmud Sujon, and Md. Enayet Husain Siraj.
Cancellation of Directorships
According to the BCB Constitution, directorships were vacated for Nazmul Hassan Papon, Manzur Kader, A.J.M. Nasir Uddin, Sk. Sohel, Advocate Anwarul Islam, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Muhammed Ismail Haider Mallick, Tanvir Ahmed (Titu), Obeid Rashid Nizam, Gazi Golam Murtoza, and Nazib Ahmed due to consecutive absences in three or more meetings.
Formation of a Constitution Amendment Committee
A Constitution Amendment Committee will be formed to update the BCB Constitution, ensuring its relevance to the board’s contemporary needs. BCB Director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim will lead the committee, which will evaluate the existing constitution and recommend updates aligned with the BCB’s strategic goals and evolving needs.
Modern Gym Facilities at Three Venues
The board approved the installation of three fully equipped modern gyms at the Test venues in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet to enhance training facilities for players.
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)
The BCB has pledged to organize the 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 with support from the Bangladesh Government. The BPL will kick off on December 30, 2024, with the final scheduled for February 7, 2025.
The board has also decided to introduce a complete e-ticketing system for the upcoming BPL season to make the ticket acquisition process more convenient for fans.
