In a thrilling final of the zim Afro T10 League, Joburg Bangla Tigers emerged as champions, defeating Cape Town Samp Army by 5 runs. This victory marked their triumph in the tournament's second edition.
Batting first after losing the toss, Joburg Bangla Tigers scored 129 runs, losing 5 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Chasing a target of 130, Cape Town could only manage 124 runs before being bowled out, resulting in a nail-biting victory for the Tigers.
Joburg Bangla Tigers got off to a flying start with openers Mohammad Shahzad and Kusal Perera, who built a solid partnership of 59 runs. Shahzad scored 44 runs off 25 balls, while Perera contributed 33 runs off just 11 balls. Hazratullah Zazai and Sikandar Raza chipped in with 19 and 12 runs, respectively.
In response, Cape Town also started well with openers Brian Bennett and David Malan. Bennett scored 36 runs before being dismissed at a team score of 81. On the final day, Jack Taylor put up a quick 23 runs off 9 balls, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory, as they fell short by 5 runs. Malan remained unbeaten on 62 runs off 28 balls, hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes.
Adam Milne took both wickets for Cape Town, while Mohammad Shahzad was named Man of the Final for his impressive performance.
