Jasprit Bumrah Reclaims Top Spot in ICC Test Bowling Rankings, Kohli and Jaiswal Also Make Significant Gains
Jasprit Bumrah has regained the No. 1 position in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, following a brilliant performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian fast bowler had a standout display in the first Test, leading his team to a historic victory in Rohit Sharma’s absence. Bumrah’s incredible bowling, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings, earned him the Player of the Match award and has now seen him return to the top of the rankings.
Bumrah, who had earlier become the first Indian pacer to reach the No. 1 ranking in February, moved ahead of South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood to reclaim his position. His performance in Perth, where he was instrumental in India’s victory, was key to his rise back to the top spot.
Meanwhile, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has made remarkable progress in the batting rankings. After scoring a brilliant 161 runs in the second innings against Australia in Perth, Jaiswal moved up two spots to No. 2 in the ICC Test Batting Rankings, with a career-best 825 rating points.
Virat Kohli also enjoyed a significant improvement in the rankings, following his 30th Test century. Kohli climbed nine spots to No. 13, further solidifying his place among the top batsmen in the world.
These rankings reflect the exceptional performances of Indian players in recent matches, as Bumrah, Jaiswal, and Kohli all make significant strides in the ICC rankings.
