IPL 2025: Announcement of Captains for All 10 Teams

The captaincy for all 10 teams of the upcoming 2025 IPL season has been finalized. Several teams are set to see new leadership, with some players being handed the captaincy for the first time. A meeting with all the captains will be held at the BCCI office on March 20, just before the IPL starts on March 22.

Ahead of the 2025 IPL season, five teams have retained their captains from the previous season. Ruturaj Gaikwad will continue as the captain of Chennai Super Kings, while Hardik Pandya remains the trusted leader of the highly successful Mumbai Indians.

Sanju Samson will lead Rajasthan Royals again, and Shubman Gill will continue as the captain of Gujarat Titans. Pat Cummins retains the captaincy for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ajinkya Rahane will lead Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2025 season.

Shreyas Iyer will take on the role of captain for Punjab Kings for the first time, and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who led Delhi in the previous season, will now captain Lucknow Super Giants.

Axar Patel has been appointed as the captain of Delhi Capitals after Lokesh Rahul's reluctance. In another significant change, Rajat Patidar has been trusted to lead Royal Challengers Bangalore, with Virat Kohli playing under his leadership.
