India Crush UAE for 9-Wicket Win in Just 27 Balls
India began their Asia Cup campaign with a commanding win, dismissing hosts UAE for only 57 runs, then chasing the target in just 4.3 overs with nine wickets to spare.
Electing to bowl first, India’s spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube wreaked havoc. UAE managed only 57 runs in 13.1 overs. Apart from openers Alishan Sharafu (22) and Mohammad Wasim (19), no other batsman offered resistance. Rahul Chopra was the next highest scorer with just 3 runs. Kuldeep Yadav (4/7 in 2.1 overs) and Shivam Dube (3/4 in 2 overs) shared the spoils, while Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakravarthy picked up a wicket each.
Chasing a mere 58, India’s openers Abhishek Sharma (30) and Shubman Gill (20*) set the tone from ball one. Their 48-run partnership, scored at almost 14 runs per over, ensured an easy victory. Sharma struck 3 sixes and 2 fours in 16 balls before getting out, while Gill remained unbeaten in 9 balls, hitting 1 six and 2 fours. Captain Suryakumar Yadav was 7* off 2 balls at the end.
Kuldeep Yadav’s brilliance earned him the Player of the Match award. With this emphatic win, India sends a strong message to the rest of the tournament.
