Imrul Kayes to Retire from Test Cricket
Imrul Kayes will no longer be seen playing in white clothes for Bangladesh. On November 16, he will play his final first-class match at Mirpur's Home of Cricket. On this day, he will also announce his retirement from international Test cricket. In his 39-match Test career, Imrul has scored 1797 runs, including 3 centuries and 4 half-centuries.
Imrul Kayes, who has 1797 runs in Test cricket for Bangladesh, last played for the national team in November 2019, during the historic pink-ball Test against India in Kolkata. In that match, he could only manage 4 runs in the first innings and 5 runs in the second innings.
On November 16, Imrul Kayes will play his final Test match for his career, representing Khulna Division against Dhaka at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
In a video message posted on his verified Facebook page with the caption, “Goodbye Test cricket. Grateful for your love,” Imrul Kayes said:
"Assalamu Alaikum, I am Imrul Kayes. With respect and love for all cricket-loving fans of Bangladesh, I would like to inform you about something important. I am about to take a difficult decision regarding my cricket career."
"On November 16, I will announce the end of my Test cricket career. I will also announce the end of my first-class cricket career. This is one of the most difficult and emotional moments of my 17-year life."
