ICC Meeting Ends Without Decision
ICC Meeting Ends Without Decision
The ICC’s virtual meeting concluded without any decision being made. The uncertainty over the venue for the 2025 Champions Trophy persists, with the ICC deciding to grant more time to both the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) and the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) for an effective resolution.
According to a report by Indian website ESPNcricinfo, the ICC Board's virtual meeting on Friday lasted less than 15 minutes due to the lack of a logical resolution. However, the meeting may reconvene at the end of next week.
Friday’s meeting was expected to finalize the venue for the Champions Trophy based on three options listed in the agenda:
Hybrid Model- Relocating the entire tournament from Pakistan to another location. Hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan without India’s participation.
As the tournament dates draw closer, the fate of the Champions Trophy venue remains undecided. Pakistan is eager to host the entire tournament in their country, while India prefers the hybrid model. According to various media outlets, the ICC and India are leaning towards the hybrid model. In this scenario, the ICC is reportedly willing to compensate Pakistan with a substantial amount for any losses incurred.
