In the opening match of the Global Super League T20, Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated Lahore Qalandars by 6 wickets. The home team dominated the game, chasing down a modest target with ease, thanks in part to a solid performance from pace bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who took two wickets.
The match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Pakistan's Lahore Qalandars marked the start of the tournament, and the Warriors made a strong statement with an emphatic win. Lahore Qalandars, batting first, could only manage 125 runs, a target that the Warriors chased down in just 17.5 overs, sealing the win comfortably.
Tanzeem Hasan Sakib made his mark early with the ball, taking a wicket in the second over of the innings. He dismissed Lahore's opener, Mirza Baig, for 5 runs, trapping him lbw. Sakib's first over was economical, conceding only 4 runs. Although he didn't pick up a wicket in his second over during the powerplay, he made up for it in the final over of Lahore's innings, taking the crucial wicket of Salman Mirza.
As a result, Lahore Qalandars were bowled out for just 125 runs in 19.2 overs. Sakib finished with impressive figures of 2 wickets for 20 runs from 3.2 overs. Meanwhile, another pacer, Dwayne Pretorius, delivered an outstanding performance, taking 4 wickets and leading the bowling charge.
Chasing the target, the Warriors lost opener Moeen Ali early for just 17 runs. However, Shai Hope played a match-winning knock, scoring 45 runs and anchoring the chase. He was supported by Kemar Pollard, who struck a quickfire 27 from 13 balls.
