Gujarat's leader Gill clinches first victory

Arriving at the double-edged sword of Mumbai, victory seemed elusive for Gujarat Titans. Today, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain for IPL. Gill's team secured the first win in the tournament. Gujarat lost 6 wickets and scored 168 runs while batting first. In response, Mumbai managed to score only 162 runs, losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Mumbai stumbled right from the beginning in their pursuit. Ajmatullah Omarzai took a wicket in the first over, dismissing Ishan Kishan. Another opener Rohit Sharma departed early, leaving the team in a precarious position. However, Dhawal Kulkarni managed to score 20 runs off 10 balls before departing.

Brave was still at the crease when Tilak Varma eased the match for Mumbai. However, Mohit Sharma dismissed Brave for 46 runs when the team had scored 129 runs. From then on, Mumbai's collapse began. In the 18th over, Tim David and in the next over, Tilak fell, putting pressure on the team. Gerald Coetzee returned for the sponsors Johnson's over when Mumbai was struggling at 150 runs, having lost 7 wickets.

Needing 9 runs off the last two balls, Bumrah and Shams Mulani settled for singles.

Earlier, losing the toss in Ahmedabad, Gujarat's openers, Ridhiman Saha and Gil, started brilliantly. However, their innings didn't materialize into something significant. Saha scored 19 runs, while Gil managed 31 runs before departing. Sai Sudharsan helped the team advance with some contributions. Others played supporting roles.

When Sudharsan departed at 45 runs, Gujarat had lost 5 wickets for 134 runs. Later, Rahul Tewatia scored 22 runs off 15 balls, and eventually, Gujarat lost 6 wickets, accumulating 168 runs.
