England leave West Indies with a 3-1 T20I series victory
The fifth and final T20I between England and the West Indies was abandoned due to rain, after prolonged delays and a lengthy wait for the weather to clear. The match could not be continued, and it was officially declared a no-result. However, the abandonment did not affect the series outcome, as England had already secured the T20I series with three wins from the first four matches.
The series had been decided prior to the fifth match, with England having won the first three encounters, ensuring they had already clinched the series. West Indies managed to win the fourth T20I by chasing down England's target of 218 runs, but that was not enough to alter the overall result.
The match was scheduled to be played at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium in St Lucia, where West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. Before the rain interruptions, they had scored 44 runs off 5 overs. Evin Lewis was unbeaten on 29 runs from 20 balls, and Shai Hope was not out on 14 runs from 10 balls. However, the rain soon arrived, and play was halted, preventing any further action.
For England, Jofra Archer had bowled 2 overs for 16 runs, while the West Indies batters managed to target John Turner's 2 overs, scoring 22 runs. On the other hand, Jamie Overton bowled just one over, conceding only 5 runs.
England's bowler, Saqib Mahmood, was named the Player of the Series for his impressive 9-wicket haul across the series.
Looking ahead, West Indies will next face Bangladesh in a multi-format series, which will consist of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 3 T20Is
