Cricket fever is set to return to Sylhet as the DSA Cup T20 Cricket Tournament gears up to kick off on Tuesday. In a vibrant and festive atmosphere, the tournament’s trophy and team jerseys were unveiled on Monday evening at the Sylhet District Stadium, signaling the official start of this much-anticipated competition.
The unveiling ceremony was hosted by the Sylhet District Sports Association (DSA) and attended by members of its ad-hoc committee, including Member Secretary Md. Noor Hossain, Advocate Imran Ahmed Chowdhury, Sahaj Uddin Tipu, Nazim Uddin Sahan, Wahid Umair, and Yahya Fazal. Also in attendance were former athletes, cricket coaches, umpires, and notable figures from Sylhet’s sports and civic community.
Speaking at the event, Noor Hossain remarked, “Our foremost goal after assuming office was to bring sports back to the field. This unveiling marks the first step of that journey.”
Advocate Imran Ahmed Chowdhury echoed this sentiment, stating, “The lifeblood of sports is regular competition. We’re starting with cricket, but soon plan to launch second-division football and other sporting events. This tournament became possible thanks to the support of our sponsors and well-wishers.”
The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by local cricketer Naim Ahmed.
