Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee has set a new record by hitting six sixes in an over against Qatar. He achieved this feat in an international T20 match. Airee, known for his big hitting abilities, achieved this milestone in a match of the ACC Men's Premier Cup today (Saturday).
Qatar's bowler Kamran Khan was at the receiving end. When the over began, Airee was on 28 runs from 15 balls, while Nepal was struggling at 174 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Airee's sixes in succession took his individual score to 64 runs from 21 balls, while Nepal amassed 210 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

Before this international T20 match, Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard held the record for hitting six sixes in six balls. Yuvraj achieved this in the 2007 T20 World Cup against Stuart Broad, while Pollard accomplished it in 2021 against Akila Dananjaya. Apart from T20 cricket, this record is held by Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa and Jaskaran Malhotra of the United States in ODIs.
Airee is a regular cricketer for Nepal, aged 24. He has played 65 international T20 matches and 55 ODIs. However, this isn't his first instance of hitting six sixes; he previously achieved this feat in the Asian Games cricket match, though it took him two overs to do so.
In that same match against Mongolia, Airee concluded his over with five sixes in five balls against Mun Gan Altnkhuyag. In the next over, Loveshan Jun Dudu sent the first delivery of Ardendan Balgan out of the boundary. Airee remained unbeaten on 52 runs from just 10 balls on that day. Nepal, losing 3 wickets, collected 314 runs, marking the first instance of a team scoring more than 300 runs in T20 cricket history. Airee's fifty was the fastest in T20 cricket in the same match.
