Dinesh Karthik is 100% prepared for the T20 World Cup
In the IPL, Dinesh Karthik is in terrific form. His experience speaks volumes, delivering significant messages. He dreams of representing the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cups, flying high against the USA and West Indies. When the World Cup kicks off, Karthik will be 39. In the last T20 World Cup in 2022, Karthik wore India's jersey but didn't play for the national team.
This IPL season, Karthik's batting prowess has dazzled. Even as a Bangalore Royal Challengers player, he holds the third position in the run tally. Only Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis stand ahead of him.
So far this season, Karthik has scored 226 runs with the bat in hand. Du Plessis holds the second position with 232 runs. Leading the chart for Bangalore is Kohli with 361 runs.
In a recent press conference before the last match, Karthik expressed, "Representing India at this stage of my life would be an incredible feeling. I desire it greatly. There's nothing bigger in my life than representing India in the T20 World Cup."
In Bangalore's last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they chased down 287 runs to reach 262. In that match, Karthik played an innings of 83 runs off 35 balls. While the team didn't win, Karthik's innings sparked various discussions. In the ongoing season, his batting prowess seems unmatched.
Karthik isn't just a batter; he's also responsible for wicketkeeping duties. The responsibility to guard the wickets falls heavily on him. Leading the Delhi Capitals as captain, Rishabh Pant is in charge of this role. His name comes up first for the wicketkeeper-batter position in India's T20 squad.
Additionally, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Lokesh Rahul are also in the mix. However, Karthik places his trust in the coach, captain, and chief selector.
He says, "I believe there are three quite stable and honest people here who will make decisions about what the best Indian team should be like for the World Cup. Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and Ajit Agarkar. I'm completely with them. But I can say, I'm 100% ready. And as you know, I do everything I can."
