Dhaka Metro Continues Winning Streak in NCL T20, Defeats Chattogram Division by 17 Runs
Dhaka Metro is on a roll in the NCL T20, securing their 7th consecutive victory, further consolidating their position at the top of the points table. In this morning's match, led by Naim Sheikh, Dhaka Metro defeated Chattogram Division by 17 runs, despite the absence of Tamim Iqbal. Shamsur Rahman Shuvo, who scored 56 runs, was named the Player of the Match.
At the Sylhet Outer Ground, Dhaka Metro lost the toss and was asked to bat first. However, their top-order struggled in the powerplay, with a disappointing start. In the second over of the innings, Imranuzzaman was dismissed for 13 runs off 6 balls, bowled by Naim Hasan. In the next two overs, Dhaka Metro lost two more wickets.
Shahidul Islam claimed the wicket of Anisul Islam (0) at number three, while the captain Naim Sheikh was dismissed for 22 runs. However, Dhaka Metro found some momentum with a 96-run partnership between Shamsur Rahman Shuvo and Marshal Ayub. Both batsmen scored half-centuries, with Marshal Ayub departing for 51 runs, followed by Shamsur Rahman Shuvo, who was dismissed for 56. After their dismissals, Dhaka Metro's innings lost its momentum, and they were eventually bowled out for 158, losing 8 wickets.
Chasing the target, Chattogram Division’s innings got off to a disastrous start with Mominul Haque falling for a golden duck. He was dismissed off the bowling of Dhaka Metro's spinner Rakibul Hasan. Another opener, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, contributed just 17 runs before he was dismissed. Shahadat Hossain Dipu also fell cheaply, scoring just 5 runs off 9 balls before being trapped LBW by Arafat Sunny.
However, Sadiqur Rahman provided some resistance with a quickfire 44 runs from 27 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Yasir Ali Chowdhury was unfortunate to be run out for 46 runs, narrowly missing out on a half-century. Like Sadiqur, Yasir also regretted missing his fifty.
No other batter could reach double figures, and Chattogram Division's innings was wrapped up for just 141 runs in 19.5 overs. Dhaka Metro won the match by 17 runs, marking their 7th consecutive victory in the tournament, a remarkable achievement for Naim Sheikh's team.
