Wanindu Hasaranga and Nuwan Thushara; this Sri Lankan duo will not be able to play for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 2024 CPL. They have been ruled out due to injuries sustained during the white-ball series at home against India.
However, in place of Hasaranga and Thushara, the Patriots franchise has signed contracts with Tabraiz Shamsi and Anrich Nortje. The Lankan duo is currently recovering from their injuries.
Thushara has been ruled out of the entire series due to a finger injury, while Hasaranga played three T20s and the first ODI before being sidelined by a hamstring injury.
Proteas star pacer Nortje has yet to make his debut in the CPL. However, Shamsi is a familiar name in the league, having played a total of 32 matches in the tournament, including 27 for the Patriots. Shamsi has taken 33 wickets for the Patriots at an economy rate of 7.06. Nortje and Shamsi will reunite with their South African teammate Tristan Stubbs at the Patriots.
