Chittagong Kings won by 30 runs vs. Sylhet Strikers

In their final home match, Sylhet Strikers suffered a loss. After a hat-trick of defeats to begin the tournament, Ariful Hossain's team, Sylhet, had staged a remarkable comeback in the Sylhet leg. However, despite flying high with back-to-back wins, the team could not gift the home crowd a victory in the final match. Sylhet fell short by 30 runs while chasing the 204-run target set by Chittagong Kings.

After impressive half-centuries from Chittagong Kings' foreign players, Usman Khan and Graham Clark, combined with an unbeaten 42 from Haider Ali, the Kings set a big target of 203 runs. Sylhet's innings, in response, ended at 173 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs, falling short by 30 runs. With this victory, Chittagong Kings, led by Mohammad Mithun, will head to the port city, while Sylhet Strikers finished their campaign with disappointment in front of their home crowd.

Winning the toss, Sylhet Strikers' captain Ariful Hossain opted to bowl first. Chittagong’s opener Parvez Hossain Emon, who had been called up to Bangladesh's Champions Trophy squad, could only manage 7 runs. Sylhet's Tanzim Hasan Sakib provided the crucial breakthrough. Following this, a strong 68-run partnership between Usman Khan and Graham Clark built momentum for Chittagong.

At the 100-run mark, the partnership was broken with Usman Khan's dismissal. Usman, who had scored a fifty, returned to the pavilion for 53 runs. Clark played a fiery knock, scoring 60 runs off 33 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 3 fours. Towards the end, Haider Ali's cameo of 42 runs helped Chittagong Kings surpass the 200-run mark. Captain Mohammad Mithun contributed 28 runs.

In pursuit of the target, Sylhet's opener Paul Stirling was dismissed on the second ball of their innings. Zakir Hasan, who came in at number 3, scored 25 runs off 19 balls before being dismissed by Alis Al Islam. The other opener, Ronny Talukdar, managed just 7 runs off 9 balls. Aaron Jones also quickly returned to the pavilion.

However, George Munsey kept Sylhet's hopes alive with aggressive batting. He brought up a fifty off 36 balls but was dismissed on the very next delivery. Chittagong Kings got a key breakthrough with Khaled Ahmed’s delivery. Sylhet's captain, Ariful Hossain, was then brilliantly caught by Usman Khan off Alis’ bowling.

Despite this, Zakir Ali Anik remained unbeaten until the end but could not lead his team to victory. Zakir played a fighting knock of 47 runs from 23 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 3 fours, but Sylhet’s total of 173 runs was not enough.

Chittagong Kings won by 30 runs in a thrilling contest, concluding their Sylhet leg of the BPL with a victory. Sylhet Strikers, on the other hand, ended their home leg with a disappointing loss in front of their home crowd.
