BPL Ticket Sales Revenue to Be Shared with Franchises, Says BCB President
The excitement among spectators in this year’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) was higher than any previous edition. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Farook Ahmed even revealed that his board has sold tickets worth approximately 12.25 crore Bangladeshi Taka throughout the BPL. A portion of the ticket sales revenue will be shared with the franchises.
In a statement on Monday, Farook Ahmed confirmed that the BCB will share the revenue generated from ticket sales with the BPL franchises. He mentioned that one of the major demands from the franchises was a revenue-sharing arrangement, and while he could not commit to this previously due to uncertainties over the profit margin, he now had good news for the franchises.
Farook Ahmed said, "At the time, I told them I was not sure about the correct profit margin, so I could not make any promises. Now, I have good news for all the franchises. We will provide them with a fair share from the ticket sales."
This season, the revenue from ticket sales has seen a historic increase. In the last ten editions of the BPL, the BCB sold tickets worth around 15 crore Taka, but this year, nearly 12.25 crore Taka worth of tickets have been sold in a single edition.
In a video message, Farook Ahmed added, "This time, we have achieved incredible success in ticket sales. One of the main reasons for this was the complete transition to a digital platform."
The decision to share the ticket revenue with the franchises is expected to financially strengthen them.
